Virginia Council Technology Teacher Education

The Virginia Council on Technology Teacher Education was formed on October 10, 1973 as the Industrial Arts Teacher Education Council. The original institutional members included: Norfolk State University, Old Dominion University, Virginia Tech, Virginia State University, and the Virginia Department of Education. In the mid-80's James Madison University joined the council.

The council was formed to provide an interchange of ideas and concerns between the faculties of teacher education programs approved to prepare technology and engineering teachers and with the Technology Education Service of the Virginia Department of Education. It seeks to ensure that graduates of approved programs are prepared to teach technology and engineering courses offered in Virginia public schools.

The mission of the Virginia Council on Technology Teacher Education is, through cooperative efforts among faculties of institutions preparing technology and engineering teachers and with the Technology Education Service, to plan and provide for leadership which serves the educational needs of Virginia public school technology and engineering teachers.
