The original Virginia Technology and Engineering Education Association (VTEEA) Web site was developed in 1995 by Dr. Walter F. Deal, III, professor at Old Dominion University. The site was hosted on a server at the university. A year later the Web site was moved to the Technology Education Service, Virginia Department of Education and George R. Willcox, State Specialist for Technology Education, became the second VTEEA Web site curator. In 1999, the Web site was moved to a public web server so that other association members could contribute to the management of the site. Following the establishment of the site on the new server, Chris Kelly, Technology Teacher, Thomas Dale High School, became the third curator. Chris and a student at his school, P. Feddo, created a new site design and added several features. In 2000, Robert Huffman, Technology Teacher, Chatham High School, Pittsylvania County, became the fourth curator. Robert expanded the site to include job opening information, details about regional activities, and many other features. In 2002, Robert moved to Danville Community College and continued to serve as curator. In 2003, Julie Ellis, Technology Teacher, John R. Tucker High School, Henrico County, was appointed to chair a Web site re-design team. Julie enlisted the assistance of Kristian Winn, a Richmond area web designer, to create the current site design. George R. Willcox continued as the association's primary Web site curator. In 2005, Ron Vickers, Technology Teacher, Rappahannock County High School, was appointed chair of the Electronic Communication Committee. Currently, Ron's major focus is to create a digital directory "Names and Faces" of technology educators. Also, the Board of Director's launched an effort chaired by George R. Willcox to publish VTEEA historial facts on the Web site along with a comprehensive listing of individuals who have received VTEEA awards. |
